Acala (Fudo Myoo) is known as the noble immovable lord, who with his stern, sinister and diabolical face expressions, instils great amounts of fear into demons, evil spirits and even gods who would dare harm the loyal practitioners of the Dharma. Acala is revered throughout all of Asia as the guardian protector of Buddhism and the destroyer of delusions. He is said to be a powerful deity who protects all the living by burning away all impediments and defilements. Thus aiding them towards enlightenment. He is a deity who serves the practitioners of the Dharma, by defeating obstacles and demons which hinder Buddhist practice. In Sanskrit, Acala means "Immovable". Because he never yields to obstacles. It is said, that he enters into a flame-emitting meditation, in which he exudes flames and destroys all karmic hindrances. He is popularly depicted as an angry figure surrounded by flames, holding a rope and a sword.
