The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

We all know the story about Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden, and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. But for those of us who don't, I will try to explain it.

In the Bible, the book of Geneses, God created a beautiful garden, which he called the Garden of Eden. He later created a man who he called Adam. And from Adam he created a woman who he called Eve. However, in the Garden of Eden, there was a tree which God referred to as the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God told Adam and Eve that they were free to eat from any tree in the garden, but they mustn't eat from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. For if they eat from it, they will certainly die."

One day a cunning serpent was slithering through this tree. And as Eve was passing by, the serpent called her over, and convinced her to eat an apple from the tree. After eating the apple, she realized that there was nothing special about this tree. Nor did she die, as God had said she would. And so, she invited Adam over to eat from the tree.

The True Meaning behind the Story of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil

God warned that if Adam or Eve ate from the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil, then they would come to know the knowledge of good and evil - the message was just that simple. They would come to label the world around him as being either good or evil. And they would remain trapped within the vicissitudes of these two ideological polarities - good and evil. They would live a life of delusional suffering, torn between that which appears to be good and that which appears to be evil. A life of absolute confusion and disarray. And never again would they wake up to realize that nothing is actually good or evil. And that all is equally an aspect of this one whole of life, this one Garden of Eden.

In the Bible, one of the very first things that God spoke to man about, was that which blinds man from attaining enlightenment.
